1. Gold Coast Multicultural Festival 2017 | Sunday, August 6 from 10:00am-4:00pm

Drop by Southport’s Broadwater Parklands to experience this year’s Gold Coast Multicultural Festival. As Queensland’s largest cultural and community event, it’s sure to offers a full day of fun for the entire family. You’ll get to see international acts from over 35 nations and 65 stalls covering art & craft and international cuisine. Best of all, this festival is free to attend.

2. Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) | Friday, August 11 to Sunday, August 20

The Ekka is arguably one of Queensland’s biggest annual events. Although the EKKA is actually held in Brisbane, it gets a special mention because this is one event not to be missed. Held over 10 days, the EKKA presents a unique blend of culture, entertainment, talent, produce and great fun. The Ekka is expected to draw in over 400,000 visitors from Australia and abroad. Make sure not to miss it! Tickets are $32 each.

3. Discovery in The Gardens | Saturday, August 12 from 10:00am-2:00pm

Take your family out for a fun day of gardening and science at Discovery in The Gardens. There’ll be interactive displays, kid-friendly activities and heaps of fun at this free event. Not to mention that there’ll also be great food and coffee, plants for sale and face painting as well. This event is taking place at the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens.

4. Rotary Kokoda Beach Classic Gold Coast |Sunday, August 20 from 7:00am-11:00am

If you’re a fitness enthusiast or you simply love to run, then the Rotary Kokoda Beach Classic is just for you. The Beach Classic features a 5km, 10km, 15km and 21km (half marathon) run, plus a 5km community walking event for those who aren’t quite athletes just yet. It takes place between the Southport Surf Life Saving Club and the Broadbeach Surf Life Saving Club on Main Beach. There is a $45 registration fee to participate in the event.

5. Tweed Valley Banana Festival | Dates to be confirmed

The Tweed Valley Banana Festival raises funds for various Australian charities. This charitable festival is actually more of a fashion parade, celebrating what else, but bananas. Other attractions you can look forward to including a wonderful ball, great food and wholesome family entertainment. This festival is held in Murwillumbah, about 45minutes from the Coast.
