Today, I’ll list 5 of the biggest events happening on the Gold Coast this month. I urge you to add these to your holiday itinerary for heaps of additional holiday fun.
1. Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival
If you’re a music fan, then you will kick yourself if you miss this year’s Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival. As one of the biggest annual (and FREE!!) music festivals in Australia, it draws in thousands of tourists each and every year. What’s really great is that you can stay in the heart of all the action and everything will still be within walking distance.
Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival runs from Thursday, May 18 to Sunday, May 21 from 10:30am-11pm in Broadbeach. And, should you choose to stay in one of our Surfers Paradise holiday apartments for your holiday, you’ll be a short 6-minute tram ride away from the event.
2. Main Beach Parkrun
Main Beach Parkrun is a wonderful community driven event that is held each weekend in May. It is a fun 5km run across a mixture of cement and grass tracks, which attracts locals and tourists alike. The run is a great way to keep fit, while also exploring the Gold Coast on foot.
Main Beach Parkrun is held every Saturday in May from 7am onwards at Hollindale Park, Seaworld Drive in Main Beach. While this event is free, you’ll need to get yourself registered to participate. Click here to register.
3. Based Comedy at Cecil Hotel
If you’re a fan of stand-up comedy, you will appreciate this event. This May, the Gold Coast hosts Based Comedy at Cecil Hotel. Bust your gut laughing as Australia’s best stand-up comedians take the stage and entertain you at this great event.
Based Comedy is held every Tuesday in May from 7:30pm-9:30pm at Cecil Hotel in Southport. Entry to this event is free. Do note; this event is note suitable for people under 18 years of age.
4. Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show
The Gold Coast’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is the biggest marine event in the Southern Hemisphere. Featuring world-class marine displays in a vibrant and modern village atmosphere, The Gold Coast’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show attracts a large audience fitfrom far and wide. Come along and see hundreds of marine displays and maybe even buy yourself a boat!
The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show runs from Thursday, May 25 to Sunday, May 28 from 9am-5pm at Sanctuary Cove. Tickets are priced between $15 and $55, children under 18 are free. Click here for tickets.
5. Gold Coast SUNS vs Geelong Cats
For any sports enthusiast, attending an AFL’s match on the Gold Coast is a must! This May, the local favourites – Gold Coast SUNS are taking on the Geelong Cats in an action-packed match in Carrara at the Metricon Stadium. Free public transport is included with each ticket, so grab your mates and gear up for a great night!
Gold Coast SUNS take on the Geelong Cats on Saturday, May 6 at Metricon Stadium. Kick-off is at 7:25pm. Tickets for this game are priced at just $25, with special concession prices for kids. Click here for tickets.
