The Gold Coast is known to host a number of events throughout the year and this week is no different. From pyjama parties to live AFL games, beach runs and street festivals, the Gold has a great deal in store for all this week!

Here are some of the top events taking place on the Gold Coast this week.

Janmasthami Gold Coast 2017 – Krishna’s Birthday festival

The celebration of Janmasthami, Sri Krishna’s birthday is happening on the Gold Coast this week. Come along to experience a traditional Hindu celebration which includes bhajans, kirtans, dahi handi and live dance and entertainment. There’s also a sumptuous Indian vegetarian dinner to look forward to!

Janmasthami is on Tuesday, August 15 from 6:00-10:00pm at the Bhakti Centre Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise. Entry is free.

Pyjama Party at Sea World

Sea World is hosting its first Pyjama Party this week and if you have young ones – or even if you don’t, this is one event to mark on your calendar. Featuring live entertainment, animal presentations and rides and attractions, the Pyjama Party is sure to be a night of fun.

Sea World’s Pyjama Party is on Friday, August 18 from 6:30-10:00pm. Early bird tickets to this event are priced at $30 while door entry will cost you $45.

Shakafest 2017

Love street entertainment, skating and live music? Then you will absolutely love Shakafest. Come along to see some of the best Australian live acts performing or partake in some of the event’s planned activities.

Shakafest is on Saturday, August 19 from 12:00-10:00pm at the Miami Tavern in Miami. Tickets cost $65 per person.

Gold Coast SUNS v Essendon

If you love you’re AFL, then go along and watch the Gold Coast SUNS take on Essendon this week at a home game. Apart from the live sporting action, there’s also live music and kick-to-kick action after the match celebrations.

Gold Coast SUNS verse Essendon on Saturday, August 19 from 7:25-11:00pm at the Metricon Stadium. Tickets to this AFL game are priced at $25, with special concessions for children.

Rotary Kokoda Beach Classic Gold Coast

For the fitness enthusiasts, this week holds the Rotary Kokoda Beach Classic. This event features a 5km run, a 10km run, a 15km run, a half marathon and a 5km community walk.

The Rotary Kokoda Beach Classic is on Sunday, August 20 from 7:00-11:00am at the Southport Surf Life Saving Club. Entry is $10 or $45 depending on the event you are participating in.
