While the sun, the beach, and the spa suite may be fun enough for most travelers going to the Gold Coast, if you’re traveling with kids, or if you’re really just the outdoorsy, adventure-seeking type, you will look for the best day trips in town. Fortunately the Gold Coast has a lot of impressive day trips for you to choose from.

Topping the list is the 4WD Eco Tour to Fraser Island. The Fraser Island is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and untouched spot in the Gold Coast. With the entire strip packed with tourists, you’d want to go someplace quiet for the day. The island is in the World Heritage list at the biggest sand island in the world. The tour allows you to relax and stroll through its sandy beaches and rainforests. Watch out for the dingos, though, as this is their natural habitat. The fresh water lakes are also something to marvel at. Lunch is usually included in the tour package.

Once you’re done with that, you can try the day trip to the Springbrook National Park. The Discovery Package includes a full day’s tour through the bushwalk as well as a tour through the famous Glow Worm Caves where you’ll see actual glowworms. Wear sensible shoes when you sign up in this tour because you’ll be on your feet for most of the time. You’ll have to bring your own torchlight too, for the cave tours. This particular tour is perfect for nature lovers and children. Lunch is picnic at the Purlington Falls and you’ll be transferred to and from your hotel.

The Tangalooma Resort Moreton Island Day Cruise is also quite a catch if you’re a dolphin lover. Unlike the Moreton Day Tour on 4WD which only allows you to see the best vistas of the Moreton Island, the Day Cruise gets you closer to the Gold Coasts Wildlife. The best thing about this daytrip is that you’re given the free reign the minute you reach the shores of the Moreton Island (you’ll be coming from the resort and sailing through the Moreton Bay).

You can go shopping here, relax at the sandy beaches, or dine with your family and friends. The tour also gives you the option to go parasailing, toboganning, or snorkeling, but nothing is strictly canned. The tour lasts for about 10 hours, so an 8AM to 6PM schedule is ideal. You’ll be sailing back just as the sun sets.
