As the owner of HRSP, I often see guests making avoidable mistakes on their mid-year holiday. To help you out, I’ll list 5 of the most common mid-year holiday mistakes so you can avoid them!

1. Booking accommodation too early or too late

Booking accommodation too early or too late means that you’ll be paying more than you otherwise would. You’ll get the best deals on a mid-year holiday if you book your accommodation 4-6 weeks before your trip.

2. Not relaxing on your holiday

Too many people are tense and anxious on their holiday, which completely ruins a trip. Also, because it is mid-year, you may still have office or work on the back of your mind. Forget your work, relax and engage in pleasurable activities – remember you’ve earnt this break!

3. Being over ambitious with your itinerary

Many people stuff too many things into their holiday itinerary and this inevitably leads to disappointment. Plan your itinerary wisely and include only a few items in it. Planning a small itinerary ahead of time if very helpful, limit it to one activity per day.

4. Not sticking to your budget

Not sticking to a budget is probably the biggest mid-year holiday mistake that people make. Whilst its cheaper to holiday mid-year in Australia, ours is still a very expensive holiday country – especially the Gold Coast. Make sure to carefully plan your budget and stick to it.

5. Choosing accommodation deals that are too good to be true

Another common mistake is choosing accommodation deals that are too good to be true. Because mid-year is low season in Australia, accommodation providers will do anything to get a booking. Be wary of accommodation deals that seem too good to be true.

If you haven’t yet booked your mid-year holiday, then consider coming to the Gold Coast. At HRSP, we offer some of the best holiday apartments and hotel apartments in Surfers Paradise. By staying in one of our apartments, you’ll make your holiday much more enjoyable and memorable.
