Looking for inspiration this June long weekend? Most don’t need an excuse to visit Queensland’s spectacular Gold Coast with its striking natural beauty, fabulous wining and dining, and world glass shopping. If you’d like to find out what’s happening on the festival front during your stay, here are just a few activities set to liven up proceedings.
One of the biggest events around will be a celebration of all things rock ‘n’ roll. Cooly Rocks On will be held from 3-13 June in the Coolangatta and Tweed Heads region, and features a two day showcase of classic ‘50s cars, markets, side shows and live rockabilly music from over 50 bands. Pack your dancing shoes!
On Sunday 12 June, there’s the Coolangatta Art & Craft Market at Queen Elizabeth Park. This long standing market features the handiwork of local creative types and you’ll discover stalls brim packed with paintings, home wares, accessories and nik naks. It’s a great place to stock up on all your souvenirs. And after your shopping, head to Kurrawa Park at Broadbeach for the Green Day Out, a World Environment Day festival that aims to raise awareness of sustainability and the environment. There’ll be stalls, live music and much more.
And if you’re looking for something a little more active, why not sign up for the Gold Coast 100. Also held on the Sunday, it’s a 100km marathon stretching from Kurrwara Park to Palm Beach, and return. Or if you’re happy to be a bystander, you’ll be more than welcome to cheer the runners on.
The Gold Coast will be packed with entertainment this June Long Weekend, so why wait, plan your short break now and get in early for a good choice of accommodation. Visit our site for the best in contemporary, comfortable and luxury resorts, apartments and holiday homes.
